Morphology of (KC60)n Polymeric Fibers

چکیده

The bers produced by co-evaporation of C 60 and potassium, and subsequent treatment in toluene, have been investigated by electron microscopy and optical spectroscopy. The electron diiraction pattern can be indexed in terms of the known orthorhombic (KC 60) n structure. The frequencies of the vibrational modes indicate charge transfer between the K and the C 60 , similar to bulk samples; no anisotropy of optical properties has been observed. The detailed analysis of the electron diiraction and micrographs reveal that, contrary to expectations, the direction of polymerization does not coincide with the direction of the long axis of the bers. Furthermore, the structure is twinned, explaining the absence of optical anisotropy.

Improvement of Strength Parameters of Sand Reinforced with Polymeric Fibers

Triaxial consolidated drained, unconfined compression, and CBR tests have been conducted in order to study the stress-strain, strength, and volume change characteristics of fine sand specimens reinforced by polymeric fibers made from carpet wastes. The variables are aspect ratio (length/width) and weight percentage of the fibers. The results indicate that the peak strength and total volume chan...

Synthesis and characterization of the electrospun fibers prepared from waste polymeric materials

Recently, the demands for the production of many different types of plastic wastes are greatly growing that subsequently, lead to the serious challenges in environmental considerations. Since, these materials are rarely resolved by microorganisms, hence, their recycling to the useful materials is crucial. In the present study, we used a solution electrospinning technique to synthesize nano/micr...

Polymeric alkali fullerides are stable in air

Infrared transmission, electron spin resonance, and X-ray diffraction measurements show unambiguously that RbC60 and KC60 are stable in air, in contrast to Rb6C60 which decomposes rapidly upon exposure. The specimens studied transform into pure C60 and other byproducts when heated above 100◦C, approximately the temperature of the orthorhombic-fcc phase transition. The stability of these compoun...

Focused ion beam characterization of bicomponent polymer fibers.

Previous work has shown that focused ion beam (FIB) nanomachining can be effectively utilized for the cross-sectional analysis of polymers such as core-shell solid microspheres and hollow latex nanospheres. While these studies have clearly demonstrated the precise location selection and nanomachining control provided by the FIB technique, the samples studied consisted of only a single polymer. ...
